Severe flooding incidents have taken place at Dalmarnock Railway Station just outside Glasgow City Centre. In particular two recent incidents have caused major disruption to trains and the passengers and freight that use them. Network Rail approached Farrer Consulting to carry out an assessment of the station drainage system aimed at avoiding further disruption during the forthcoming Commonwealth Games and afterwards..

Farrer to participate in Network Rail Railway Drainage Maintenance event

Farrer Consulting has been invited by Network Rail to participate in Network Rail’s Railway Drainage Maintenance Exhibition and Best Practices Conference on 23rd February at Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster.

 

Farrer’s rail engineers fully understand that Network Rail must maintain the integrity of existing drainage systems and prevent flooding of railway infrastructure and surrounding land as well as identifying a programme of renewals and enhancements, to maintain the assets, as well as ensure the serviceability, efficiency and ultimately the profitability of the rail network.

 

The company will be exhibiting a number of services including Infrastructure Asset Identification solutions – locating assets using an integrative mixture of survey techniques; including topographical and ground penetrating radar (GPR).
