Farrer increases Network Rail supplier approvals

Farrer Consulting has gained formal approval to provide asset survey, utility mapping, CCTV and drainage services to Network Rail through the Achilles Link-up service. Currently supplying these services to the water, highway and local authority sectors, Farrer will now take its experience and expertise into the rail industry. Farrer adds these additional services to those it was already Link-up approved to supply, which include consultancy support, environmental impact assessment and water and sewage services.

In light of the severe weather events the UK has experienced over recent years, Network Rail has recognised that it must manage drainage assets effectively to mitigate risk to the operation of the train network. It has identified improvements in the performance of its drainage infrastructure as a key focus for Control Period 4 (2009-14).

The audit was passed on the first attempt with no corrective actions requested – a significant achievement.
