Farrer delivered a software and data management solution to enable Scottish Water staff to record properties affected by low water pressure.
By means of a Corporate Register, the LOS procedure enables Scottish Water staff to record properties affected by low water pressure, using data from either customer complaint records, or as identified by model outputs or other field studies.
All such registered properties needed to tracked through to resolution of the reported problem and successful removal from the application, which may be by immediate onsite resolution, network adjustment, or a more detailed Opex/Capex approach.
In respect of minimum acceptable water pressure, the criteria for properties supplied by Scottish Water were:
-
At the first customer tap, a water pressure of at least 10 metres head should be evident,
-
Alternatively, a flow rate of at least 9 litres per minute should be evident at the same point,
-
If the pressure in the adjacent main supplying the property is measured, this should be at least 15 metres head, or more in certain cases where multiple properties are supplied from one service pipe.

In October 2008, Farrer were invited by North Ayrshire Council to conduct a trial road asset inventory collection project. The trial involved the surveying of 10km of urban road and 20km of rural road utilising the stereo video capability of the IBI groups RouteMapper, combined with traditional surveying techniques to provide superior positional accuracy of data.
